Why Are My Lash Extensions Itchy?
Wondering “why are my lash extensions itchy?” Don’t worry—we’re breaking down potential causes and tips for relief for those of you in Coppell.
Improper Application
It’s possible that your stylist applied extensions too close to your lash line or used too much adhesive. This will not happen if you visit our trained stylists at The Lash Lounge Coppell – S. Denton Tap and Sandy Lake Rds.. If you think this might be the case, here’s what we recommend:
- DO reach out to the salon and/or stylist who serviced you so they can assess the work and determine if your extensions should be removed. Want a second opinion? Give your nearby Lash Lounge a ring and see if we can take a look and help.
- DON’T ignore the discomfort. Improperly applied lash extensions can cause damage to your natural lashes. ❌
Allergic Reaction
Even though it’s rare, sensitivity to the adhesive could cause itchy eyelids after lash extensions. If this is the case, you might notice redness with your irritation. Here at The Lash Lounge, we do a thorough consultation prior to your service to ensure we know of any potential sensitivities and may perform a patch test to ensure the adhesive selected is the best option for you. If you think you’ve had a reaction:
- DO reach out to your TX doctor or a medical professional. They may advise you to take Benadryl and apply cortisone cream to ease the reaction. PS: Our stylists keep cortisone cream handy at the salon.
- DON’T tug at your lashes or try to remove them yourself. You should reach out to your salon to have the lashes removed as soon as possible. ❌
Skipping Aftercare
Neglecting your lash aftercare routine can lead to makeup, oil, sweat and bacteria build up which will cause itching around your eyes. A proper routine is a MUST to keep your lashes happy and healthy!
- DO cleanse your lashes daily—yep, DAILY! Our Lash Detox Foaming Cleanser gently removes any build up along your lash line. Want to go the extra mile and really protect your investment? Snag our Lash Lounge Aftercare Kit.
- DON’T apply any oil or alcohol-based products to your lids. These ingredients will break down the adhesive and cause your extensions to prematurely fall out.
