Love is in the air and we’re talkin’ about it!
The textbook definition of love is, “an intense feeling of deep affection.” But since we are not textbooks, we decided to define what love means to us individually.
What does LOVE mean to you?
“Unconditionally caring for, accepting and appreciating another being.”
– Kristina G. | Lash Stylist
“To love a person is to consciously choose to care for someone in spite of their flaws. It’s to accept the challenges and imperfections of a person and continue to care for them unconditionally. It goes deeper than a physical attraction/infatuation and provides a range of emotions.”
– Rachel S. | Lash Stylist
“Love to me represent a commitment made towards a person(s) or a thing. I have a commitment to my daughter, to love, protect and cherish her every day. I have a commitment to my significant other to love him through thick and thin. I have a commitment to my friends and family to care for them and be there for them when the time is needed. I have a commitment to my career, to build relationships with whom I touch and be excellent at everything I do. I have a commitment to myself, to love and respect myself even when I feel like I can’t.”
– Jacque J. | Lash Stylist
“So, love means, you like something but times 1,000 to the point you might be obsessed.”
– Christina H. | Lash Stylist
Most of our staff has read about or heard of the five love languages, and we love using that knowledge to connect to not only our significant others but use it as a tool to relate to people in friendships, work connections and professional relationships. Rachel does an excellent job of explaining how she likes to use love languages to show love to people while other staff members, like Jacque, show love through acts of service. We are all different and learning love languages is a really fun way to make others feel special. Christina H. is super thoughtful and always makes mental notes of her co-worker birthdays or special events. She uses her craftiness to show her love for others on those days, often with handmade gifts.
“I feel like we should show love to others based on their “Love Language”. Showing love to someone isn’t based on what you want/need, it should be based on what that person wants/needs. So, if you know that someone you love appreciates help around the house, or enjoys being given gifts those types of actions are going to show them that love.”
– Rachel S. | Lash Stylist
“My best way to show love to someone is a silent gesture. For an example: My boyfriend starches his jeans nightly for work. Sometimes while he’s at work I will starch his jeans for him to wear the next day. He won’t ask me to, I just do it.”
– Jacque J. | Lash Stylist
“I feel that the best way to show someone that I love them is to spend time with them. I feel as though memories and time spent is so much more valuable than materialistic goods. When someone passes away you always hear people say that they wish they could get one more day with that person. I never want to have to feel that way about loved ones and therefore I do my best to spend time with those that I love.”
– Jenni G. | Front Desk
“The best way to show someone you love them is to tell them why you love them, never hesitate to say you’re sorry, and random acts of kindness.”
– Brooke B. | Owner
“The way I like to show love all kind of depends on the person. My favorite ways to show love include spending quality time with someone, helping someone out with a task or doing something for them without having them ask it of me, or getting them something small to let them know I was thinking about them. I found that two of the ways I like to show love are my two primary Love Languages. For those who haven’t heard of Love Languages I highly recommend the book by Dr. Gary Chapman The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts!”
– Monet S. | Lash Stylist
Who is someone, besides immediate family, that you LOVE?
We each have someone in our lives that we just couldn’t imagine living without. Other than those that we live with or grew up with, who else do we love?
“My dogs. They have seen me on my bad days and they’ve always laid their head on my lap when I cried. They also have been there for me on my best days sitting patiently wagging their tails. Showing excitement for me.”
– Jacque J. | Lash Stylist
“Something I love?? I love dogs, hearts, polka dot, hot chocolate, glitter and anything PINK!”
– Christina H. | Lash Stylist
“I LOVE animals. We have 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fish tanks, and a turtle.”
– Brooke B. | Owner

“My two-year-old, kitty Citra. She is a white Calico kitty. She is a very affectionate kitty with a big personality. Her nickname is “Silly”.”
– Kristina G. | Lash Stylist
“Other than immediate family, I love my boyfriend’s family. They’re always there for me and I’m really grateful for them! Everyone welcomed me with open arms, and they gave me a family unit while my family is so far away.”

What was the first time you thought you were in LOVE?
While we are discussing people that we love, you may be able to recall the first person that you loved. Or at least thought you loved. Almost everyone has someone that they just had the biggest crush on in middle or high school. We’ve done a deep dive into those naïve, youthful memories and are going to share them with you.
Jacque is so sweet and gave us a real insight into her parents love and relationship. But not everyone stays with the person they met in the 7th grade.
“My parents have been together since they were in the 7th grade. I grew up listening to stories about how they were so in love doing crazy things at a young age. So, when I was in 7th grade, I was looking for my forever person to recreate those memories. So here I am in 7th grade asking all the boys. Who wants to love me forever until we die? And no one, I repeat no one spoke to me until 8th grade ”
– Jacque J. | Lash Stylist
I’m sure it’s probably for the best that none of those lame middle school boys accepted Jacque’s invitation because now she has an amazing relationship and an adorable daughter!
While some met “the love of their life” at a young age, others certainly did not! Look at Rachel, who went on to marry that man, while Christina left her schoolgirl crush at the playground and left us all with a laugh!
“When my husband and I first met, I remember feeling butterflies in my heart and my instant attraction to him. However, I don’t remember a specific point where I knew I was in love…it was more of a feeling that I knew I didn’t want to share my life with anyone else.”
– Rachel S. | Lash Stylist
“Kindergarten…. Robbie Hoffman.”
– Christina H. | Lash Stylist
Kristina and Jenni described their first loves with not necessarily a person but a feeling that person gave them.
“I love adventures and spontaneity. The first time I thought I was in love was with the first person that made me feel like I was flying. The late-night adventures and not knowing where we were going but just being happy to be going. I felt like I wasn’t just in love with the person but the experiences they brought for me.”
– Jenni G. | Front Desk
“I met someone who was funny, fun, kind and let me be myself.”
– Kristina G. | Lash Stylist
Our salon owner, Brooke, talked about her first heartbreak and how it made her feel. And let me tell you, we were all a little touched because everyone remembers their first heartbreak and the ache that follows it.
“I remember the heartache when the first boy I thought I was in love with broke up with me. I was so upset and living in a different town than my family. My dad ended up flying to see me and spending the weekend with me. I had no idea how I would go on.”
– Brooke B. | Owner
What movie do you LOVE to watch?
While we may be seen most as our professional selves and we don’t always get to relate to guests during an appointment, we are all still people and get to watch movies, have fun and express ourselves outside of work. Our staff has taken some time to talk about some of those things.
We hope that you will each be able to connect to our love for movies by either sharing a favorite movie or getting a good recommendation for your next at home movie night!
“I love the movie Chicago based on the Broadway musical. I come from a dance and theatre background and seeing that type of representation in the form a movie is really awesome. Anytime I’m feeling down I watch Chicago and it makes me feel better every time.”
– Jenni Griego | Front Desk
“The Greatest Showman! That movie sparks joy no matter how many times I’ve seen it.”
– Rachel S. | Lash Stylist
“When I am sick, I always watch , but the movie I laugh out loud the most to is Burn After Reading. Seeing Brad Pitt play such a nerdy role is always hilarious to me. I still haven’t found anyone who likes the movie as much as I do, but EVERYONE laughs when they watch it with me.”
– Brooke B. | Owner
“I love The Wedding Singer because the soundtrack is the best. Also, I’m a 1980 baby- so the 80’s and 90’s were my time. This movie and the music takes me back.”
