Outstanding lashes don’t happen by chance, but with the help of Lash Extensions, you can have effortlessly full, long, and beautiful lashes in no time. With Lash Extensions being the beauty industry’s newest obsession on the block more and more women are letting their lashes do the talking. Before taking the lash plunge, let’s dive into the do’s and don’ts of Lash Extensions.

Do understand it is a commitment:

When you come in for your initial full set of lash extensions, you will be advised when to come in again for your refill. We recommend coming in every two to two and a half weeks to maintain the fullness of your lashes. Your lashes, just like your hair and nails grow in phases, and as your natural eyelashes grow and shed, your eyelash extensions will shed out with them.

Do your research:

To make sure your lash extensions are being applied properly, research the requirements a lash studio has for their stylists. While there are many great deals out there, it doesn’t always mean it will be the best work. We pride ourselves on requiring each of our stylists to not only go through a minimum of a six-week training course but also to have either state Cosmetology or Esthetician License.

Do buy a lash serum:

Using a lash serum (that is lash safe), will keep your natural lashes growing and healthy. Remember, the stronger and more natural lashes you have, the more lash extensions can be put on, meaning fuller more enhanced lashes. So pick up a bottle of Neulash Professional at your appointment.

Do use lash safe products:

Products that contain oils and alcohols in them are a lash disaster. Both will break down the adhesive used to attach the eyelash extension to your natural lash and cause excessive fallout. But don’t worry, we have got you covered. Each salon carries The Lash Lounge line of products that are 100% lash safe. We have everything from makeup and makeup remover, to sleep masks and sealants to improve the lifespan of your lashes.

Do wash your lashes:

Washing your lashes at least every other day with our lash cleanser allows your lashes to stay clean and healthy, as well as to prevent any pesky premature fallout. Our everyday life builds up in our lashes and that is okay and completely normal. Dust, dirt, oil, and debris all collect on our lashes and need a bath. Think about what would happen if you didn’t wash your hair for two weeks, the same goes for your lashes… Talk about a lash catastrophe!

Do keep your lashes dry:

While it is important to wash your lashes, it’s also important to keep your lashes dry after you get them wet. If water and moisture are left sitting on the lashes the adhesive will start to break down and cause premature fallout. The best way to dry your lashes is to use a microfiber cloth like the Make-Up Eraser to gently press down and then use a spoolie that your stylist will give you to brush through your lashes.

Do brush your lashes:

Brush your lashes when you wake up, go to bed, or any time you get them wet. This will keep your lashes looking clean and perfect!

Don’t use lash curlers or strip lashes:

The use of both will tug and pull out both your natural lash as well as your lash extensions… Ouch!

Don’t pick, rub, or pull on your lashes:

Doing so will sometimes pull out your natural lashes as well as the extensions and can cause bald spots on your lash line. Instead, just brush through them with a spoolie, and if something is bothering you just give us a call and we would be happy to get you back in to have it looked at.

Don’t get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours after getting them done:

Keeping your lashes dry for the first 24 hours allows the adhesive to cure so the lash extensions stay until your next refill. We don’t want any early fallout, do we!

Don’t get a facial or go to the gym the same day you get your lashes done:

Sweat and steam are just the same as water. Try to keep them dry for the first 2 hours. Remember dry lashes are happy lashes!
