Lash Extensions After Botox (And More Beauty Treatment Tips!)

Wondering if you can proceed with your lash appointment after getting a Botox treatment, chemical peel, or any other professional beauty treatment? We’re setting the record straight AND with some help from a seasoned nurse practitioner injector!
A Botox Treatment and Lash Extensions: What To Know
Curious if getting lash extensions or going for your lash fill is one of the things under a “what not to do after Botox” list? It’s great that you’re thinking this way cause we know you surely don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that Botox kicking in OR your lash appointment!
To help us provide info on this subject, we teamed up with Melissa Hettler RN FNP-BC and Nurse Practitioner Injector from 2301 Plastic Surgery MedSpa near Dallas, Texas. See below for the questions we asked and her expert answers.
TLL: Can a guest proceed with their scheduled lash appointment after getting Botox?
MH: It’s best to schedule a lash appointment BEFORE you get Botox or wait until the following day. After you get Botox, your injector should instruct you to avoid both laying down and applying pressure to the treated area for at least 4–-6 hours after the injection. If these instructions are not followed, there is a risk of the Botox moving to an unintended area. For example, if your forehead is injected, the Botox could move too low resulting in heavy eyebrows and/or upper eyelids.

Lash Extensions and Beauty Treatment Tips
While we discussed Botox and lash extensions specifically with Melissa, we also wanted to ask her about other beauty treatments.
TLL: What about a chemical peel or other professional beauty treatments involving the face? Is it okay to get lash extensions the same day or the next day?
MH: It’s perfectly fine to schedule a lash appointment on the same day either before or after a basic facial or dermaplaning, but be sure to inform your esthetician of your fresh lashes so they don’t get wet. If the facial treatment disrupts the skin barrier such as chemical peels, lasers, or micro needling, then you should wait at least a week afterward (or until the skin is fully healed) for your lash appointment. This is to minimize the risk of irritation or infection.
Botox and Brow Services
In case you’re wondering about brows after a beauty treatment, we won’t leave you hanging!
If you’re looking to have your brows threaded, tinted or you want brow lamination, see below for what we asked Melissa and her expert answer!*
*Check with your local Lash Lounge salon on the availability of brow services.
TLL: What if a guest wants to get a brow service, like a tint, threading or lamination*? Is that okay to get shortly after a treatment near the brow area?
MH: Similar to lash extensions, brow services should be avoided on the same day as a Botox treatment unless the appointment is scheduled prior to injections. Here’s why:
- There is too great of a risk that pressure will be applied to the area of injection.
- You’re not supposed to lay down for at least 4–6 hours after a Botox appointment, so that lash nap…it will need to wait just a bit!
